The SA National Standard (SANS 241) Class 1, specifies that 200 parts per billion or 200 micrograms per liter of tri-halo methanes is acceptable and "safe" in our tap water.
Tri-halo methanes are carcinogenic chemical substances at nano levels that are formed when organic matter and chlorine are combined.
The USA standard allowed currently is 80 parts per billion or 80 micrograms per liter and is currently under review to have it reduced to 40 micrograms per liter.
Organic matter comes from sewerage, dead animals and plants, and with many municipal water recycling plants in serious disrepair, a ready source of the above combined with hundreds of informal settlements on riverbanks; the levels of contamination is extremely high.
Chlorine is used as a disinfectant as part of the treatment of South Africa and other countries' drinking water.

South Africa's drinking water used to be measured by a class 0 standard but is currently measured by class 1.
The class 0 standard was a much higher, more expensive and difficult to maintain than the current 'high standard' that is promoted as to be safe.
The next classification is class 2 and a human being is not allowed to consume class 2 water for longer than 6 months as it is unsafe to do so.
Bottled water is as expensive as fuel per liter, if not more expensive in some cases - It costs as much as R10 per liter for bottled water in South Africa. It's not necessarily the healthiest option available either, as the water dissolves the plastic and that is definitely neither green nor healthy.
It is unlikely that borehole water is clean or healthy because of contamination of rivers dams and eco systems throughout South Africa. All water tables are linked somewhere or somehow.

Our unique NANO technology filter is the best available water purification.
Nano-fibers are microscopically mounted on glass tubes and impregnated with silver and carbon.
The fibers are statically charged with 50 mili volts of electricity to form a mat of non woven fibers that act as a layer or trap for very specific substances such as viruses, bacteria, smells, tastes and turbidity which colors the water.
The 10 inch NANO water filter has an active working surface equivalent to 4 football fields but barely restricts the flow of the water and it does not remove the aqueous which include natural salts minerals from the water...and not a drop of water is wasted nor is any electricity required for the use of purification.
All of the above features put together in one product should speak for itself to be the only choice when it comes to choosing the correct water purifier for you and your family.
Filtration works on an in-line principal where the water is channeled in on the one side and flows through the filters and as the water passes through depending on the kind of filters used certain materials with a certain physical size measured in microns are bigger than the size of the holes in the filter and gets trapped and only the water and the smaller particles passes through.
Filtration works on an in-line principal where the water is channeled through a series of filters designed to trap certain materials that exceed a certain size in microns, the allowance decreasing with each filter, allowing only the water and smaller, desirable particles to pass through.
Sediment, such as mud, rust, sand and even possibly live organisms such as worms are the biggest particles in size and therefore a sediment filter of 5 micron is used as the first pre-filter (Rand Water filters up to 20 microns and then treats by adding chemicals to the water which takes away from the quality of natural h2o with normal trace minerals.).
The second and third pre-filters used are granule activated carbon and solid activated carbon filters, as carbon is known to attract other materials, poisonous contaminants and is even more effective when being activated.
The fourth pre-filter is a 1 micron sediment filter to keep all particles bigger than 1 micron from blocking the NANO water filter of 0.02 micron.
This technology is most effective when used on rain water as well as joburg municipal water.
When the source is a borehole or others such as rivers or dams, it is strongly recommend that a water analysis be done at a laboratory to determine the exact contents of dissolved solids in the water and then to provide the correct application based on the outcome of the analysis.
